The Freshman Fake

Sociallyanxious ChineseAmerican girl Maya is trapped by the "guzhengprodigy" label. She submits original songs anonymously under the malesounding gamer alias Mason, winning high praise from campus music talent Ethan. Pretending to be Mason, she partners with Ethan for the music festival. They grow fond of each other while fending off exgirlfriend Chloe’s schemes and family pressure. At the finals, Maya reveals her true identity, breaks stereotypes, and gains both her musical dream and love.
